That's So....

Twice in the last couple of weeks, I was told something was 'more Tawnya than anything else on earth'. I did not disagree with either comment. At all. In fact, they were both right. Completely on point. But it got me thinking. What, exactly, makes something "me"? I have a tough time explaining my style when asked, but it's clearly distinctive enough for anyone to pinpoint.

I was talking to Isaac about this and he starting rattling off words one could use to describe me. Vintage. Classic. Eclectic. I don't disagree, but I also don't think that's IT, either. I lack the right word for my style, it seems. So I need some help. I'm nearly 40 and, as much as I shouldn't, I really want a word to describe ME. My style. Be it clothes or home.

Wanna play along?

  1. You need to throw something like "unconventional" or "nonconformist" into the mix. That's meant to be complimentary, but those don't have the right ring to them. Individual? I would also use elegant along with Isaac's list. I don't believe you can be described in one word.

    1. See? This. Again, I don't disagree with you (says the woman wearing a tiered maxi skirt, baseball tee, boot socks and sweater boots...). But there just seems like there COULD be an all-encompassing word. Maybe not, though.

  2. Perhaps it really is just one word: Tawnya. Kind of rolls of the tongue, I know what it means when it's said and I like it! :) Yeah, I'm pretty much no help.

    2. I got it!! ahem... Thought-provoking. That is how I would sum you up. I think things like: "awesome!" "interesting perspective" "funny" "I would have never thought of that before" etc. etc. etc.

Okay, only slightly more help, but it popped into my mind as I was sitting here thinking and attempting to attempt to finish my quilt. :)

  3. Seems like most of the things you pick have a reason, a story, a statement, a feeling, an inspiration, a message, depth(or simplicity), character, not necessarily the same statement/message/feeling all the time. I am not sure what the word is for that.. not necessarily sentimental in how most people see the word, but sentimental of sorts. Does that make sense?
