I'm A Queen

*My sister is getting a new bed. And because I wanna be just like her, we're thinking of doing the same. I kid...sort of. We are due for a new bed and since our room will be painted dark this summer, I'm wanting a light bed. I think I found one, but, as luck would have it, my sister is looking at the same one. Sigh.

*I started flipping through a sample of a book the other day. It mentioned Voice of the Beehive...is it wrong that it made the book slightly elevated in my eyes? And almost a must read? "You are the church of love and suddenly I'm feeling holy..."

*I finally got last year's blog book and our family picture book done. Point the first: I've used blurb for the past four years to make my blog books. I've not had any difficulties with them at all. I liked the books. BUT - they give you complete creative control, which means it's TIME consuming (hence, why it was taking me awhile to get around to it!) because they give you complete control. You have to go in and reformat each page and picture and UGH. I tried blog2print this year. It took a grand total of 10 minutes until I hit the "order now" button. Uh, we have a winner...

Point the second? I used to do our family picture books from August to July every year (since I started them after Sammy was born). I decided to jump, this year, and just do the calendar year. So this book will be August 2011 - December 2012 to even out. Do you realize how many photos that really is? Oh my.

*I'm pretty tired of talking about the weather. But we're going on three or so weeks of pretty consistent below zero temps. I may break, soon. And don't get me started on our dubious honor of "worst air in the country" right now. My kid just wants to go outside for recess again...

*I downloaded my first ever audio book yesterday. I'm not certain I'm an audiobook kind of girl. We'll see.

*Isaac keeps asking me what I want for my birthday. I have no suggestions to give him. None. I don't need anything. So...what are some good suggestions that aren't really "things"? Any ideas? And on that note: I want to do something BIG this year, my last in my 30s. I'm thinking of jumping on the "XX acts of service" that a lot of bloggers seem to do. 39 acts of service over the month of February? I'm thinking...

*I'm VERY much looking forward to purging my entire house. As soon as it's warm. Because DUDE! It's cold and I just wanna curl up in blankets right now. But I will be listing things on our valley's classifieds soon. And very much looking forward to stripping this house bare.

(just like you, voice of the beehive)

  1. * We decided not to. We're gonna build one instead, so no worries there!

*Ha! There's a peacefulness and a rage inside us all.

*I pulled out Simon's baby photo album yesterday...the one that only has one page finished and almost cried. Be very, very grateful that Sammy was born in the time of digital cameras.

*I'm mostly just tired of the few people who rant about people talking about the weather. It IS a big deal. It IS hard to get through this time of year, especially for those of us that it makes physically ill and it does NOT mean that I should move. Whoa. Sorry. Didn't know I had that one in the chamber.

*I know that I am not. I've been trying to listen to my scriptures in the car and I don't like it; I just instantly tune out.

*You could do 39 acts of service in my filthy kitchen alone....

*I have so been enjoying it. Not counting the stuff I've sold, I've taken a large load to DI once a week now since before Christmas. I'm attacking my "craft and random decorating crap" closet today.

    1. *I wondered, after the DIY bed pins...

      *Truer lyrics...

*OY! Well, we just wouldn't have family picture books, is all! I remember back when you lived in the town house, you trying to finish them before you had Sage...

*I agree. With your whole bullet. This has been a TOUGH month. Negative degrees for weeks on end IS a big deal. As is the air of doom. As is reminding myself that come summer, I'll remember. I'm just tired there's still weather to talk about...I'm so cold. In my bones.

*I'm afraid I may not be either. I've tried once before, on CD, and it didn't go well.

      *Ha!

*Speaking of...I have a LOVELY vase the color of your new bedroom. Wanna see it?

    2. I haven't left the house since Friday afternoon. Seriously. After Isaac gets home, I'll bring it over and see your bedroom?

    4. Ha...I actually figured that. You can come over if you want...my house is a sty. We decided to go ahead and take out James' wall today.

    5. Your sty = me getting out of my house after 72 hours. I'm good!

  2. I have never printed a blog book because I am so frustrated with blurb. Do you want to refer me to blog2print? I would like to try it and I'd love for you to get some free credits.

    1. Absolutely! I don't see where on their site to do it, though? Am I just overlooking it?

And this could NOT have been easier. I was so surprised how little time it took. So awesome!

  3. I scrolled down on the home page and there was a section called blog2print rewards where you could refer friends.

    1. So weird. I had to google it to get to the page. I couldn't find it! Anyway. It's sent. Let me know if you don't get it!

    2. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh man. I just saw it. I was looking for something MUCH smaller! Can I blame the cold for that, too? ;)

    3. I haven't gotten an email yet. I would like to try it out. Feel free to blame the cold for anything!! It's got to be good for something.

    4. Sent another. Let me know?

    5. Ugh. Now I'm wondering if I'm using the right email. I sent you my address for that book and never heard from you. I thought it was weird, but now I don't know if I sent it the wrong place!

    6. Thanks! I did finally get the email from blog2print and I am going to place an order soon. I actually need to do one for every year I've been blogging. I have to see how much it will cost and how much I can spend right now.

I never got an email from you with your address. I'm glad you mentioned it. Will you resend so I can get the book to you?

    7. Great!

I'll try again with my address. Let me know?

  4. Someday, when "things" are looking up and life is just oh so grand again, I'm totally doing a blog book. So when that "magic" day comes for David and I, I may drop you a line for a referral as well. and sadly you may have to remind me.

and secondly, I have an entire room FULL of boxed up junky junkiness that I can't bring myself to start going through because it's THE coldest room in the house and this year I am a total wimp. The end.

    1. Right? Most everything I need to declutter is upstairs. And upstairs is not happiness and sunshine right now. So I'm making a list and a plan and in a month or so when I start to defrost, I'll start. Room by glorious room and by the end? We'll have so very little.

  5. Does blog2post print the comments readers make on your blog? I haven't printed my blog in such a long time because of all the work involved. Ten minutes would be wonderful.

    1. I didn't, but I swear my friend told me that is an option they can do. And seriously. I am SO sold on this! I can do this before everyone wakes up on New Year's Eve and be DONE with it. Yay!

    2. Yes, you definitely can include the comments. I did a trial run and that is an option!

  6. I've been wanting to do a blog book -- thanks for the recommend. :)

Hey, your new bed better go with that quilt! :)

  7. So sorry about the weather! You know you have places to stay including mine here. In fact, whenever we are in Utah, you can use mine as a vacation home.
Audio books are great as long as the reader is. Jim Dale is an amazing reader and I would listen to ANYTHING he narrates (also why I LOVED Pushing Daisies). Another good reader is the one for Sophie Kinsella books. British accents just work for me. Some readers are dreadful and make the book horrible. I hope you got a good reader on your book. Audio can be grand! I promise!
Thanks for the tip on the blog2print. I haven't even made a blog book because I knew how much would go into it.
Here's hoping for Sunny days soon!

And I think we may escape to San Diego next winter. We're talking...

  8. Please stay at my house...perfect for your family with lots of toys already there for Sammy! I hate leaving it empty all that time. Keep us in mind. I have another friend who uses the house part of the summer when I am in Utah. I am so grateful she does!
