Week in Pictures

Friday - I don't even know what to say about this...

Saturday - Frumpy middle age trying to look young? Mother of the bride-ish? Pretty? I need opinions. Not that I'm buying it, but looking at it in the store I couldn't decide. However! The Jessica Simpson shoes they paired with it? LOVE.

Sunday - Sammy Wii skiing. Or hula hooping...(as an aside...I CANNOT get blogger to upload the hula hooping video. Any one else having a tough time?)

Monday - Our new clippers. But, wait! It comes with an eye brow cutting guide. Oh, the mocking I could do about that. And how many people screw that up?

Tuesday - Sammy. Practicing for St. Patrick's Day

Wednesday - looking longingly out the window on a very rainy day

Thursday - Crazy crowds to watch a helicopter drop 20,000 balls onto the University field. Sammy loved it.

Top 5 Irish Loves

1. Glen Hansard. Um...did you really think it would be anything else? Really?

2. Liam Neeson...mmmmmmmm.

3. The name Finnian. No. I don't think I'll ever get over it. Why do you ask?

4. Celtic knots. Have ALWAYS had a fascination.

5. Dropkick Murphys: Mostly. Sometimes. Sometimes not. Depends on my mood. Or maybe a little Flogging Molly...

Random You May Or May Not Know About Me

*I hate opera. HATE. Do not even remotely understand why anyone would want to listen or observe an opera. -shudder-

*I am the QUEEN of procrastination.

*I am often a harsh judge of others' actions, but will be the first in line to show compassion should you ask for help.

*I have GIANT bookcases in my living room filled with books. However, due to my addiction, I buy faster than I can read and this leads me to having a lot of books I haven't read yet in my collection. And is also the reason I don't do the library much any more...oh, the things that change with having a kid.

*I kinda want to run for mayor.

*I know I probably wouldn't win the race, due to that little "D" that would show up next to my name...

*I secretly think my kid REALLY IS better than your kid.

*I also don't really think T.V. watching is all that terrible. For me or my kid.

*I sometimes wonder why people don't do things or think things the way I do because I almost always believe I'm right.

*There are moments where I just want to give up and crawl in a hole because life as an adult REALLY SUCKS sometimes. I would like to think this is a 'getting older' phenomenon, but I started watching the news at a very early age, so I'm pretty sure this is just how I was built.

*I often believe I do not deserve Isaac. I swear. I judge. I mumble about church under my breath. Sometimes IN church. I roll my eyes and say bad things about those who utter sexist remarks in Sunday School. And he is kind and good and will be waving at me from heaven...

*Speaking of heaven...Why don't we do mausoleums in Utah? I would MUCH rather be stuck in a wall than buried. Possibly alive because someone stinks at their job.

*I never got the whole "shopping" thing. Until the past couple of years. Shopping when you have money? TOTALLY fun.

*I have an OCD meltdown at least once a week and it drives me INSANE when someone with a little quirkiness starts a sentence with "My OCD...". INSANE.

*I cannot stand GIANT muscles on guys. Or, well, girls for that matter. I think it's disgusting.

*Those stupid voting things on line (like..."Would you wear these new trends? / Hot or Not? / Who Wore it Best?). I totally do them. All the time. (As an aside? Apparently thick rimmed glasses are "in" this year. Uh....tell that to my last decade of life, people! Also? Not a fan of snakeskin...)

*I hate when salespeople make me feel guilty for not buying something. I hate that I sometimes give in, even more...

Continuing My Week of Lists...

1. I REALLY hate when grown women with grown children try to become buddies (as in "hanging out buddies") with their kids' friends. I really want to shake them and say - ACT YOUR AGE. Do they not know they look desperate trying to fit in with a 20 year old's social group? Are they that insecure about aging? Do they not realize that everyone is looking at them pityingly? I get laughing and having a good time with your kids, but, really. REALLY.

2. Wii hula hoop is the best spectator sport EVER.

3. After nearly 5 years and virtually no effort on my part, I am within a couple of pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight. Now if I can just do nothing about those 20 pounds I was not trying to lose before I got pregnant...

4. I hate when sports get in the way of good tv.

5. Nothing puts things into perspective (and puts my phobia of funerals back front and center), quicker than news of a friend who is dying.

6. I think Renee Zellwegger should have retired after Empire Records.

7. I often want to talk about money on my blog. And then I remember that we aren't supposed to talk to about money in public...It was SUCH an issue in my first marriage and not so much in this one and I would love to chat about the differences. And about our successes (we have a plan to pay off the house in about 4 years!) but I don't want to come across as braggy or stupid when that wouldn't be my angle at all. And insensitive! I would HATE sounding like that! So I'm in limbo on this...

8. I'm attempting Irish Soda Bread for dinner on Thursday. Wheeeee!

9. Does anyone know when you should plant lilacs (which will be my one luxury in my edible landscaping!). I've been reading conflicting things. And SERIOUSLY - our dirt is growing grass. GRASS! We had patches we were trying to grow in our last lawn that just would. not. grow. Here? Don't want it and it keeps sprouting. Damned if you do, yada yada.

10. I'm really trying to learn about nuclear reactors to quell my crazy fear of the whole Japan situation, but MAN. I am NOT good with disasters. Do not come to my house should the worst happen. Or, maybe, do. Isaac is amazing under pressure.
