When I was younger and still lived at home, my bedroom was decorated in masquerade masks and posters. I've always loved the dramatic look of them and especially the faces. So beautiful. I've noticed now, as I decorate my grown up house, I still tend toward the dramatic prints. A grown up version of masquerade masks, if you will. Like this. And this:

(which I love so wholeheartedly, it was nearly my first purchase for the old house)
So imagine my surprise when I was walking through Borders the other day and saw this puzzle.

I immediately bought it and we expanded our table and started working on it. It's tough and I still don't totally love the process, especially as much as Isaac and Sammy do, but I'm excited to see it all done. It's gorgeous and I guess not surprising that I was drawn to it in the first place.

Post Script: This last picture was taken late last week. It's much more done, now. In fact, even as I write, Sammy came running up here to let me know her dress was now finished. And I'm starting to see the value of having a stack of puzzles by the dining room table during the winter. Even if I don't contribute past the edge pieces. Because, let's be honest, I still get frustrated that I can't find pieces that fit. But I do love hearing my boys work at one together...
(that's entertainment, the jam)

Did you know when you are done, you can make a poster out of it and hang it ? My new sister-in-law shares my love of puzzles. Love Mom
Ooh, I saw that one. I loved it!
That puzzle looks like the perfect "fit" for your family! Puzzles always remind me of Christmas. It seems like we usually do them around the holidays when everyone has more free time. Either that or someone receives a puzzles for Christmas and wants everyone to help them.
1. Nice title.
2. Nice puzzle.
3. I haven't done a puzzle with more than 35 pieces in....couldn't even tell ya. Maybe I'll pull one out at Christmas.
Mom - you have a new SIL? And I'm not a big fan of puzzle posters...
Amanda - it's GORGEOUS.
Melanie - me too. Though now that I've unleashed Isaac, we may have one going continually for awhile!
Sharon -
1. Why, thank you.
2. It's gorgeous.
3. We bought about 72 million, if you need a new one to try.
I am a bigger fan of puzzles than I used to be. I think my daughter would love that one. It's really her style. (The picture, anyway. I'm not sure how she'd feel about the challenge of putting it together. But I'd help her.)
Yes, Uncle Kenneth's wife. Love her. She has did some as pictures and I really like them They look very nice. I was not a fan of picture puzzles, either.
I have to know...what is the red thing in the tree? It looks like a balloon, but did they have balloon's back then? Or is she just leaving a theme costume birthday party?
It's an apple. And also my contribution to the puzzle...
Oh...(and I know I could have texted this. Or emailed it. Or put it on FB. Or called you. Or leaned out my back door and shouted, but I wanted to subscribe to this post and well...you know my whole Blargh about that...)
I am going to try to stop by sometime tomorrow and wrap that present and bring it home.
Ok. We have yours wrapped you can take home, too...
My mom loves puzzles and we always had one going over the holidays. I should start that! And can I just say: "I am soooo jealous that you are done!" There. I said it. I'll move on now. (But I really, really am...)
And can I just say that the woman who ignores your son--totally weird. Who does that?! Especially if she has kids. At first I assumed she didn't and just didn't realize how hurt a kid could be by something like that...but then she has three kids and still doesn't get it? And still can't just be nice? What? I'm giving her a very loud "BOOOOOOOOO!"
Sorry, Laurel! I have this crazy need to be done by Thanksgiving. I think it's because I love shopping in December - but I don't love Christmas shopping in December (weird, right?)! If you were closer, I'd totally come help!
And she actually has more than 3, (and I'm not sure she's done!) so...yeah. Clearly not anti kid! I'm just glad it's not just me that think it's all weird.
Wow...that looks like a pretty hard puzzle for me too, let alone a 4 year old!
He's put in two pieces himself this morning. He's incredibly patient and will just sit and try until it fits...That's right. I'm obnoxious and just said my kid is a GENIUS (well, kinda...) :)
totally merited...he is!
