1. I'm kind of wanting a piano. Which is a little crazy for me. I don't *really* play, but I think without the pressure of daily practice and lessons, I may enjoy it. A little. However, I do not know where I would put it. Anyone who has been in our house have any ideas? Because right now I'm thinking it's a no go as far as room. And...a piano? I don't know what to do with that.
2. A new side of Sammy has been emerging lately. He's been taking charge a little bit more. He's throwing out phrases like "Um...you can go, I don't need you" and "I don't need Momo right now" and it's all at once killing me and making me proud. The other night, Isaac and I came to the realization that we don't think Sammy sees himself as a little kid. So I asked. And Sammy confirmed it. That's why he gravitates to the 'little kids', consoling them and bossing them...he sees himself in the parent role. Aaaaaahhhhh. Gotcha. That makes sense.
3. We're starting to talk options for Sammy's schooling next year. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, as our first choice is a lottery system charter school. But, still. I think it would be a great fit for him.
4. After a year, I finally know how I want to do our master bedroom. It involves a lot of gray, blue and yellow. Now...does anyone know decorating fairies that will come in a take my vision out of my head and make it real in a weekend? For about $25? No? I really am more of a "tell them what to do and hire someone to do it" kind of girl than a "decorate myself" (shudder...) kind of girl... However, minus color on the walls, I have FINALLY gotten my family room / office perfect. I'm completely in love. I'll make a tour of it tomorrow.
5. Sammy has been sleeping on our floor for a couple of weeks, now. We put down his sleeping bag and some blankets every night and every night (usually sometime around 3 or 4, though we never know for sure since he doesn't wake us up) he crawls right in. While both of us enjoy this much more than him crawling into bed with us (he's nearly 4 feet tall!), I am still wondering what is up with this. I'm not super concerned, but...his bed must be getting mighty lonely.
6. And...we had snow this week. Sure, it's nearly Halloween and it's late this year. I still wasn't ready.
(paul weller, you do something to me)
I've heard that the Piano Gallery in town is closing--and has some good prices on pianos. Maybe it is meant to be.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm....maybe I should at least go look.
ReplyDeleteI definitely read this expecting Milli Vanilli to make an appearance somewhere in the post... :)

ReplyDeleteHa! I couldn't do it, Ricki...I figured with the title alone, it would be stuck in enough heads!
ReplyDeleteInstead of a piano, why don't you look into a good keyboard, That way you can put it in a closet when you are not using it and that solves the room problem. Then when you feel the need to use it you can. Piano Gallery is ALWAYS going out of business. It has been going out of business since we moved to the valley 7 years ago.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I already know it'll be a piano or nothing...
ReplyDeleteAnd I think it MAY actually be true this time. The one by IKEA is, any way.
If you happen to find those decorating fairies let me know. I'll take elves or anything. We could use some help around here!
ReplyDeletePiano Gallery is truly going out of business. Go look, you never know what you will find- and looking isn't buying. I got my baby grand there 6 years ago. It was 1 year old, used by a concert pianist, played by no one but him and he got a new piano every year so he had just brought this one back as a trade in. So I got it at a steal. And if Sammy started lessons then that would solve the not being used issue. (Donovan started at 4 yrs old)
ReplyDeleteAnd I truly don't have room for it, but I love it anyway.
Piano would be awesome. We got ours, an English one about 90 years old, for $100 about 5 years ago. It's great. As to where to put it, just try to not put it on an outside wall if it's a proper piano; keyboards and electronic pianos don't matter as much with this. And yeah, you'll find you use it a lot when you aren't required to play/practice it all the time...
ReplyDeleteD
Yeah, that's the problem. we have exactly 3 "not outside walls" in our house (well, usable ones anyway) and there is just no where really to put it. So I don't think we'll end up getting one.
