Thoughts From the Road

1. Sammy really is so good in the car. He never complains; just sits and plays. He is still three, though, and buying a new toy for him resulted in a chorus of "Let's go home..." (albeit in the smallest, most quiet voice ever - one I still got impatient with). However, he's adopted a new phrase that I'm not so sure about. "Let's look at the fun stuff."

2. Seattle is NOT a kid friendly city. I would like to stick a fork in the eye of the guy who designed the ramps on the street corners. Phooey on him!

3. A three story Anthropologie is a) a very happy thing, b) a nice way to spend some time while Sammy is napping, c) a depressing way to realize I'm too cheap to buy the things I really love.

4. Washington is nothing but trees and water. Seriously.

5. I LOVE the city. I'm such a city girl. Lights, noise, the heart of downtown somewhere? Bring it on...

6. When you go to dinner with friends (thanks again lbs!) and give your leftovers to a homeless guy outside the restaurant and then you see five cop cars stopping where the homeless guys was? Makes you panic, very briefly, that you somehow got him in trouble. You know, before you realize that's crazy!

7. For all the ways Portland and Seattle are the same, I can see major differences as well. While I feel comfortable and inspired in Portland, I feel old and not good enough in Seattle. Very different vibes from very similar places.

8. We went to the music museum yesterday. So much more fun than the Space Needle...

9. We budgeted and saved for this trip and had plenty of money to do the fun things. However, I'm realizing that we spent most of our money on food, books and Sammy toys. So...not much different than home!

10. Having a satalite card for my laptop so I can blog while in the car? Just the happiest of things...

11. We stayed in the Grand Hyatt in downtown Seattle. We may have been bumped to a higher hotel bracket.

12. I'm pretty sure I should be doing something with my life...

13. Happy Birthday Diane and my mother in law! Sorry the wishes have to be on the run!

This Is Really for Cheryl...

Look! Our apartment is now a parking lot! So surreal walking through the Grove...
