Friday Random

-I love the internet. I love Google. I really, really do.

-I love new music.

-I love when Isaac is on-call and doesn't go into work until 3 pm so we can sit around and watch movies. Well, except the whole "that = no money being made" thing.

-I spend my days lately going over and over and over and over the alphabet with Sammy. His latest craze is "What does 'h' say?" "What does 'u' say?" Surprisingly, he usually knows the answer and gives an appropriate example (like 'u' is for 'umbrella'). I do have to say, though, that he's making me hate words. Who knew that was possible? (Although I did laugh just now when he asked me what "4" says and I said nothing...it's a number. His reply was "but it wants to talk!". Nice...)

-Clothesline is going back up today. Very excited.

-I'm also buying herbs to plant next week. Really excited about that, in addition to getting our first CSA share pickup this week. Less grocery shopping, here I come!

-I'm kind of random'd out this week. Nothing witty to share.

-Ring of the week:

-Song of the week:

(absolutely still, BTE) New BTE album out this week. Some high points. A couple songs I don't like. Still mulling. This one, however, I love.

Old Movies...Love Them, Hate Them, Something Inbetween

Let's talk old / classic movies. I love old movies. I'll happily sit through a Thin Man marathon and anytime The Philadelphia Story comes on, I'm a happy woman. I've watched 'em all. But there are some that are just SO bad and SO stupid that they should have never existed. Let's focus on those, shall we?

1. Gone With the Wind. Seriously stupid. Just the WORST of the worst. I've never felt more robbed of time and I watched Twilight (I kid...). No, seriously, though. I've seen a lot of bad movies and this is one of the most unpleasant. I can't believe someone took pen to paper for this.

2. It's A Wonderful Life. Really. My ex was the biggest Jimmy Stewart fan in the world. I know my Jimmy Stewart (see Philadelphia Story, The, above). This, though? Ugh. Why would you waste precious seconds watching this at Christmas when you could be watching...Elf? Or, say, Die Hard? Die Hard and It's A Wonderful Life have a lot in common. They're both Christmas flicks and neither are exactly light-hearted. But one of them has Alan Rickman, which makes it pull into the lead!

3. Annie Hall. Esh. I've been known to enjoy a good Woody Allen movie or two. This is not one of them.

4. To Kill A Mockingbird. Maybe I'm not exactly the right person on this one since I don't like the book either, but the movie was SO MUCH WORSE. Isaac would say it's because I hate precocious kid actors. I'm hesitant to disagree, here.

5. Any of the James Bond movies. I would rather watch Hope Floats 20 times in a row...(and that's not a good thing!)

6. Jaws. Wow, what a bad movie.

7. The Lion in Winter. I first watched this for a film class. And then I watched it a few years later. I think my opinion actually diminished from an already low point upon the second viewing.

8. Streetcar Named Desire. I vastly prefer the Sesame Street version...

**Movies I've never seen and hope to keep it that way: Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz, ET, West Side Story (well, at least most of it)

Rock Star

Here's our little rockstar. He loves RockBand a ridiculous amount. He now stands up on the shoe bench with the microphone to sing (usually I Love to Love You Baby - Ow! I wouldn't know at ALL who taught him that...).

Because I Have No Shame vol 17

(me and not so nice boyfriend July 1992)

Let's talk about denim. What was UP with denim in the 90s? These shorts weren't mine. I'm guessing they were my roommate's, but I really don't remember borrowing them. The pleats. The horror! The pleats. I'm so anti-pleat now, I find the ridiculous pleats in these shorts so funny.

And the shirt. Gah! Man. I loved that thing. I think we have a roommate picture from that next fall taken where we ALL were in denim pants / shirts. Seriously needed What Not To Wear help.

The glasses? Check. The hair? Could the bangs BE higher? Oh, wait. Yes, they could have. These are tame.

I think this is on our way out to a pretty significant date. This may have been the night he proposed the first time (I was 18...). I'm having trouble remembering why we were doing such a "first date / prom" pose, though.

I Am In Love

I give you my new desk (here are the befores). Isn't it pretty? It's shiny (hee!) and just perfect. Also, it came damaged (which you can't see - it's on the bottom facing the wall) so I got 20% refunded to me. Sweet! The only thing left to do is put up some decorated clip boards on the wall between the shelves and the door and I'm done.

We went to see Wolverine on Friday. All the reviewers are stupid. It was AWESOME. Though, I'm hard pressed to find fault with anything that has a half naked Ryan Reynolds and a nearly naked Hugh Jackman. Seriously hot, people. (Happy Mother's Day!)

The only thing that marred our night out were the idiots who brought their 4 year old daughter and 1 year old baby to see Wolverine with them. Was ANYONE surprised when the baby spent the entire movie crying? No? Didn't think so. My sister and I decided that those parents deserve every sleepless night and nightmare that comes their way. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Can't afford a babysitter? Stay home. Don't care if you have to miss shirtless Hugh on the big screen...No one wants to be distracted by the toddlers screaming and playing up and down the aisles.
