Wow. Who Knew? Oh, Yeah. I Did.

Isaac has been in Atlanta for the past four days and should be traveling home even as we speak. Let's list the things we've learned from this little adventure, shall we?

1. I don't function well as a single parent. At all. I try not to take for granted the million things Isaac does on a daily basis (dishes, Sammy's bath, diapers when he's home) but man. HIGH-lighted.

2. Sammy doesn't sleep well. He misses his routine with daddy. Even getting to sleep in mommy and daddy's bed didn't do the trick very well.

3. I don't sleep well. A habit formed while Isaac was on overnights while we lived in San Diego. You can hear ALL sorts of noises at night when you are alone.

4. I carry my stress in my neck on a regular basis, but with him gone, the stress goes right to my stomach. I'm such a fun nervous person.

5. I don't cook. Which, uh, may contribute negatively to #4.

I didn't used to be quite this pathetic; I'm not sure what happened. I'll blame it on still liking my husband and seriously missing him when he's not around. I've told him many times that we have to die together because I can't be alone for years on end with him gone first. I'm too much of a wuss...Ok, so I'd BE fine, but I wouldn't like it!

V is for...Voluptuous? No, That's Not Right at All.

My sister did a fun tag this weekend and since I didn't want her to feel all alone in the tag love, I decided to play along. So I am listing 10 things I love that begin with the letter of Sharon's choosing. She chooses "V". Wait. "V"?! Hmmm...maybe she IS alone in the tag love! (And by tag I don't mean Tag...)

So...here we go. Getting to know you via the letter V:
1. Veronica. Yes, that Veronica. I used to read my brother's Archie comics obsessively. I would beg for one every time we went to the grocery store. I loved them. However, I never understood why boys preferred the vapid Betty over Veronica. Veronica is so clearly superior!

2. Vampires. And I'm not talking the Meyer kind (she's nearly ruined it for me!), but the REAL kind. The legend, the stories, the myth. Fascinated by it all. As long as the word Twilight doesn't appear!

3. Voice of the Beehive. Seriously. Reminds me of high school.

4. Violator - home to one of my favorite Depeche Mode songs and, quite possibly, one of my all time top 10 favorites period.

5. Vacation. All I ever wanted. Namely the one we're planning for later this year.

6. Videos and Volumes...media of any kind. DVDs, youtube, MTV in its heyday, books, magazines, you name it and I love it.

7. Vestibule. It's just really my favorite V word. Especially said through clenched teeth.

8. Vegetables. Especially cucumbers. I'm already dreaming of fresh from the garden cucumber sandwiches. Man. I love fresh produce! Oooooh. Or Einstein Bros. Veg out bagel sandwich. I have those WAY too often...

9. Vindication. Man. I can't begin to tell you how much I love being right. It's an illness and one of the things Isaac really hates about me...

10. Vasectomy. What a happy little surgery...

I won't tag anyone specifically, but I'll be happy to assign a letter to anyone who wants to play along!

Friday Random

-Wrong that I find this funny in the "boy was that stupid" funny kind of way? (no offense to any of my alum friends!)

-I abhor April Fool's Day and wish we could abolish the tradition. It's so mean spirited.

-Sammy has a cold. I can't begin to tell you how much that sucks.

-I've done woefully little this week. I didn't think it was a bad week, but I'm suddenly rethinking that.

-Isaac taught Sammy to say, "click it or ticket" and now it's his new go-to phrase. Added to 'freaky deaky', 'fluoride, take it easy' and 'ummmmmm...what's the word...ummmm....no' (said with his fingers drumming against his chin) and you have a pretty typical conversation with my kid lately.

-Speaking of Sammy talk, I had my head in my hands and he came up to me and said, "What's the matter little guy?" like it was the most normal phrase in the world. What a goober.

-Ring of the week:

This ring? Actually one of my mom's old earrings. Heh.

-Song of the week:

(red flag, russian radio...my favorite by them is a song called rain, which I couldn't find. Sadly.)

The Coolest Thing. Ever. No, Seriously.

My sister has one of those fabric ribbon boards above her desk. I've often coveted it. I like the ones in the stores ok, but most of them are too girly for both my taste and my home. Or cheap looking. And, well, we all know I'll never make one myself. What I WILL do, however, is buy all the stuff and bat my eyelashes and have my SISTER make one for me. I'd feel more guilty, but she swears she likes doing this kind of thing.

So, when you go that route, what you get is the coolest, BIGGEST plaid looking brown and orange, no quilt batting to make it froufy fabric ribbon board. Like this.

Right? It's huge. And perfect. And cheap! The frame was $3 at the thrift store, the material was hand me down from my mom (funky patterned 70s polyester white) and the buttons and ribbon - under $10. Sweet!

The only problem is, is that I had it made to go behind my door leading to the garage (to put coupons and tickets and whatever else usually clutters a fridge) and so no one will get to see it unless they specifically look for it. But it still makes me happy.

And, a bonus Sammy picture run because...well, because. See for yourself.
