I've decided numbered lists are handy at the end of the week when I've stored up enough stuff but none of it is really blog worthy.
1. I simply don't understand the giant "coming messiah-ness" hoopla of Sarah Palin. Really don't get it. I don't think there could be a woman on earth who believes things so polar opposite of me.
2. The sweetest words right now? "Fixed Agitator" Three loads of laundry down.
3. Cucumber and tomato bagel sandwiches. I'm so digging them right now.
4. Quarterly taxes are due. Nothing makes me feel poorer, faster.
5. I bought 3 $200 pair of boots for $95 total. Love it! (These and these in brown and black)
6. My sister Loretta came over yesterday and "fixed" my sewing machine. In about 2.5 seconds. Works perfectly. I'm pretty sure when I need it rethread (threaded again?) I'll be having her do it since I'm clearly incapable.
7. In return, I set up her blog.
8. I am completely in a John Mayer / Jack Johnson mood. It must be turning into fall.
9. Especially this song:
10. Or this one:

It's Been One Week...
On Monday, we had my family's annual party / get together. There was laughing and talking and playing and lots of food. And I didn't get one picture. But, my sister did. I did steal this one from her, though:

It shows a very, very tired Sammy who went without a nap the entire day so as to not miss anything! I'm sincerely looking forward to next year's affair since Dustin & Cindy will be here from Australia.
On Tuesday (yesterday), we went shopping in Salt Lake. My pantry is in dire need of more shelves, so IKEA was in order. We happened to time it perfectly and met up with my mom and dad as they were heading out of town and spent the next hour or so shopping IKEA and eating meatballs with them. Sammy got a ridiculous amount of stuff, I got my shelves and then it was time to say goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa for a couple of months. We were then on our way to Park City to see if we could find some deals on winter clothes. I was asked the other day why I didn't have any sweaters left from the last time I lived here. And then I reminded that person that I didn't need a lot of sweaters in Portland nor did I need any in San Diego and so, over eight years, most of them went away due to lack of use or outdatedness. After yesterday, though, Sammy is fully stocked for fall/winter (except a coat and boots which will come) and I have sweaters. Lots of sweaters. Isaac got some new dress shirts since he now wears them everyday and we called it a day. Well, except for the monster truck shopping we did at Target on the way home (thanks, Summer!).
Today is a playdate for Sammy and calling back early intervention to set up an evaluation (I finally caved to the fears).
Tomorrow the washer repair guy is supposed to be coming and, once he does, I'm assuming I'll be spending the rest of tomorrow and Friday trying to find the light at the end of the laundry! In addition to regular stuff, we have all the shopping from yesterday to add to it. Whew!
Friday, I think I have convinced my sister Loretta to come over in the afternoon and try to fix (help) the operator error I keep having with my sewing machine. In return I'm going to help her set up her blog. Look out world!
Somewhere during this I need to buy peaches and can them as well as a few things off my never ending to do list. I keep waiting for that slow week, but I'm begining to doubt I'll ever find it!

Huh. I May Need To Go Shopping
When the power goes out at 10:30 pm and you find that this:

is the only working flashlight in the house AND you have to use it to find the other flashlights you own that are, sadly, somewhere in your son's toy box, it may be time for some emergency preparedness supplies.
(And yes, you push the tail, it clucks like a chicken and opens the beak / flashlight. We're so cool.)
