Oh, No.
Isaac's sister, her hubby and son came over last night for dinner. It was lovely having them over, but we have a problem. Sammy is terrified of their son, Porter. Can't get near him without bursting into hyperventilating tears. However, he has to have his eye on him at all times to keep abreast of his movements about the room. We think it started on Sunday when Porter accidentally shoved Sammy. Now Sammy can't stand to be near him.
Oh, and did I mention Porter is just barely a year old and comes up to Sammy's naval? Yeah. School's clearly going to be fun...Maybe the tide will turn and Porter can be Sammy's bodyguard.

same, same!

Happy Mother's Day...a Little Late
Isaac and I were coming home from dinner on Saturday and we drove by our first apartment. It was a wreck when we lived there 10 years ago and it's even worse looking now!
We lived upstairs to the right. There was a studio to the left and then a big apartment on the main floor of the house. We had icky brown carpet that had a bleach stain in the living room in the shape of a toilet. The kitchen was huge, the bedroom BARELY fit our queen size bed and nothing else. Isaac had to crawl across the bed to get to his side. There was no shower, only a tub, so we had to rig a handheld shower hose to the wall using rubber bands and post it sticky hooks. Classy. It had a small heater in the 'hallway' that pointed into the bedroom. You could ONLY feel it when you were right by it. Otherwise we froze. We found out later (like the weekend we were moving out later) that it was because they 'accidentally' painted shut the heater vents that went upstairs and never fixed them. A month before we moved to Portland, our downstairs neighbors "forgot" they had french fries cooking. Our entire apartment had smoke damage. It was awful. That night, they offered (after numerous phone calls and threats) to put us up in a hotel for a night. They offered the worst thing you could ever imagine. Remind me to post that pic sometime! We slept on top of the blankets, fully clothed until about 3 am when we went back to our apartment to freeze to death instead. Clearly, smoke in the lungs was a better option than where they wanted us to stay! I have NEVER worn so many layers to sleep in before. Airing out an apartment in 30 degree weather and then trying to sleep? It was a long night. Aaaah. Fun times.
Yesterday after church (My talk went well. People called me "bold" and "direct" and "refreshing". Ha!), we travelled to my in-laws for the afternoon. It was a nice day, the trip up uneventful. It was good to see everyone and visit and indulge in my mother-in-law's should - be - famous - criminally - divine cinnamon rolls.
(on the drive, close to Isaac's house)
Sammy found a little rocking chair and quickly claimed it for his own. He LOVED it so much, I thought it might be painful to drag him away from it! Hmmm. Mom, do you know where we could get a nice wooden rocker for him?
