A Break in Regularly Scheduled Programming

We had a break in the all boxes all the time routine we've set for ourselves this week. Sammy had his first birthday party to go to and in true Sammy fashion, he was great for it but wondered why there was someone smaller hogging all of the attention! His cousin, Porter, turns one this weekend and a lot of Isaac's family came and we had a lunch party. It was great to see everyone and fun to watch Sammy interact with everyone - even if he was jealous and possessive of the toys!

We decided to make it an errand day since neither of us were in the unpacking groove due to the party. I have completely forgotten what it's like to run all sorts of errands and never leave a two-block radius from my house. Or errands that don't involve a freeway at some point! It took no time at all to quickly pick up the things we were lacking, get dinner and get back home. I'm loving that!

Other than the near freezing temps, we seem to have seemlessly fit in here. It's a great feeling. Well, it would be a great feeling if it weren't so freaking frozen...

Can I just say?

This video has been a nice distraction to the looming tower of boxes today. I'm just sayin'. It's been very nice.

And...we're back!

Hi everyone! I'm stealing Isaac's computer while he tries to get my wireless up and running. We are here, it's cold, we have our kitchen half unpacked and our washer & dryer in and working and we're exhausted!

I'm hoping to be mostly unpacked / set up by the end of the weekend - just in time for Isaac to go back to work - and spend next week settling in, getting a routine back and enjoying my new house and getting caught up on everyone's blogs! Expect lots of pictures to come!

This Is It...

I've had a long, complicated experience in San Diego. I came into it missing Portland a ridiculous amount. I never fully hit my stride, but I've made some great friends that I will miss tremendously. My son was born here and I'm a little sad to be leaving Sammy's first (and only!) home. However, I'm ready to tuck the best memories away and move on.

Our stuff arrived in Utah on Friday. Our first couple of social engagements are planned. The apartment is cleaned. The car is as packed as it can be. Isaac has to check in to work tomorrow morning and then as soon as he can get home we will throw the rest of the stuff in the car and we're on the road. We're stressed and anxious and a number of other things, but mostly we are just excited to get there already!

Internet should be hooked up on Tuesday, so I'll see you after I clear some boxes from view...
