100 Things About Me

Inspired by Sharon's list and way more than you ever wanted to know:

1. My favorite place on earth is NYC.

2. My favorite place I've been to outside of the U.S. is Costa Rica and I constantly dream of going back.

3. I have a "must see in concert before I die" list that consists of three people.

4. I've seen two of the three.

5. I would much rather read a book than just about anything.

6. I love to argue (sorry, debate...) and I argue (sorry, debate...) to win.

7. I once stood in line for three hours to get into an Ethan Hawke reading just so I could see him in the flesh.

8. I was married and nearly 30 at the time. I hated his book, but it's still one of the best memories I have.

9. I go for salty over sweet every time.

10. I 'acquired' a boyfriend about 2 days after I got to college. We dated for about 6 months. He had great hair.

11. I have very little tolerance for stupidity, though I'm trying to get better. Or convince everyone else to be less stupid. Either would work.

12. I've been engaged three, almost four, times.

13. I'm fantastically bad at math and still use my fingers to count.

14. I used to dislike chocolate - esp. chocolate ice cream, until after my pregnancy. Now I love it.

15. I love to cook.

16. I never intended to live in Utah. Ever. I was on my way to Arizona and got 'stuck' for seven years. And now I'm going back. Sigh.

17. I have a ridiculous memory for minutiae.

18. I honestly don't understand why people start listening to country music because it's "safer" once they have kids. It's a trend I neither understand nor condone.

19. I want to go to Italy and Greece more than anywhere in the world.

20. I love to organize and if I wasn't such a germaphobe, I'd start my own organization business.

21. If I could live anywhere, it would be Portland, Oregon.

22. If I haven't mentioned my love of Portland within about five minutes of meeting you, I must not be feeling well.

23. I'm actually really shy until I get comfortable.

24. I hate crafty, homemakey things. They make me twitch.

25. I've taken several photography classes and love taking pictures.

26. I can't swim.

27. I want to go back to school to get my master's in Political Science.

28. My dream job would be White House Press Secretary.

29. I get suspicious of overly happy people.

30. I once dated a guy from Wyoming. I find that incredibly funny.

31. I get the itch to rearrange my furniture every six months or so.

32. I firmly believe that itch is genetic.

33. I worry that Sammy's first sentence will be sarcastic in nature.

34. I tell people I don't have any most embarrassing moments. In reality I only have one and I have never told anyone about it. It will go with me to my grave.

35. I always worry people won't/don't like me.

36. I don't think I'm funny. Isaac does.

37. I don't do well without stability. I'm not exactly a spontaneous, fly by the seat of my pants kind of girl.

38. The internet is the best invention ever.

39. I'm thrilled that Isaac isn't into sports.

40. I not so secretly hope that Sammy won't want to be in scouts.

41. I took several years of piano and still can't play a thing.

42. I love to travel, but hate hotels.

43. My favorite Broadway play is Jekyll and Hyde.

44. I'm way more liberal than most everyone I know.

45. I wish sometimes I could change their conservativism.
45a. I'm pretty sure I just made up the word conservativism.

46. When I was in high school, my greatest wish was to find a man like Sydney Carton from A Tale of Two Cities.

47. My favorite author is F. Scott Fitzgerald.

48. My favorite present Isaac's ever given me is a book of F. Scott Fitzgerald's short stories he picked up for $1 at DI when we were dating.

49. My favorite color is orange.

50. I sometimes wonder if that is also genetic.

51. My best friend in college was a guy. We no longer speak and I still miss him nearly everyday.

52. I've recently discovered that I love Coke (esp. cherry Coke) more than Dr. Pepper. I fear my sister may disown me.

53. I didn't cry nor save any hair at Sammy's first haircut. In fact, I lobbed it off one night at dinner because it was driving me crazy. Later I realized I was supposed to feel nostalgia.

54. I don't believe in mother's intuition.

55. I would love to throw annual summer neighborhood get togethers. I think it would be fun.

64. I love yoga.

65. I often forget to wear a bra and it annoys almost everyone I know.

66. I'm not uncomfortable talking about most anything.

67. I'm a big fan of the "if you want to know something, ask" policy. All of my friends recruit me when they want to know something about someone since they know I will ask.

68. I have a scary ability to get anyone's life story out of them in about 1/2 hour after meeting them. I'm apparently comfortable to talk to.

69. My husband & I can't share most things. We have two of nearly everything.

70. Burt's Bees tinted lip gloss is the best thing ever.

71. I am incredibly cheap, but will splurge for Philosophy body wash and MAC makeup.

72. I think I could do well on Jeopardy!

73. I own about a dozen dictionary / thesaurus variations.

74. Isaac and I regularly compete for the Who Is Smarter title. We're pretty even.

75. It bothers me when women don't get a college education. It's an opinion I don't share often.

76. I have a continually updated alphabetized list of every movie, book and CD I own. I assume everyone else does as well.

77. I worry about Sammy being an only child.

78. I can't stand having living things (pets, plants) in my house.

79. I hate most flowers, but love tulips.

83. I can't sew.

84. I have no food allergies, but I'm convinced I'll come down with one at any second.

94. I love shoes.

95. At one point I had 12 pairs of boots.

96. This was while I lived in San Diego where you don't need boots.

97. I hate when people pass opinion, beliefs or heresay off as fact.

98. I love to do random acts of kindness to people - from giving to the homeless to taking random dinners to neighbors. I hope to instill that same love in Sammy.
